01 Feb How I Quit My Welding Job, Built a Kindle Publishing Business and Started Living Like Indiana Jones…

I still remember the job interview in 2003. I had no idea what I was getting into…

Who knew I’d still be there over 10 years later.

I definitely didn’t think I would be…

I thought I’d have my own business or something. Something that would allow me to travel and wake up and just do the stuff I love.

But I wasn’t.

I was stuck in a hot ass shed, wearing a giant layer of clothes, leather vests, gloves, a gas mask and helmet, welding for 9 hours a day…

And you can just imagine what this was like in summer. It was HOT.

Once I’d been there for 10 years I took my long service money and got the heck out of there. I wanted to travel the world.

And I did…

I traveled to South East Asia and did some crazy cool s#%t.

I bungee jumped naked in Thailand…

I trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal…

I hiked the most dangerous path in the world in China…

Plus a ton of other cool things…

BUT after 6 months I had to go home. I’d run out of money.

Damn.

Worse of all I had to go back to welding.

Double damn.

But something amazing happened only a few months later…

I discovered Kindle Publishing. Where you create little books and sell them on Amazon.

I loved the idea of this, making book sales while I slept and having an actual business.

The crazy thing that I couldn’t believe is that a guy like me; a welder, could actually do this.

I had other people writing the books for me (called Ghostwriters), I learned how to rank books on Amazon, how to make amazing book covers and how to scale the whole thing.

But long story short, over a 6 month period I was able to build up an income, while working on this in my spare time and still working at my welding job.

My first month I still remember the first cheque I got.

It was for $280.

To say my life changed at this point was an understatement…

The next month I made over $500. The next over $1000.

Before I knew it, within 6 months I was making over $5,000 a month which was the same as what I was making in my welding job.

I didn’t need much persuasion to keep going and build the business up.

Several months after this I was able to quit my job.

Little old me was able to get himself out of the damn rat race…

This was of course a MASSIVE dream come true.

I’d finally done it. I had a business. I had time.

I could finally start living life on my terms.

I could start going on adventures and still make money. I could travel the world again!

And that’s how I started this whole crazy life…
